Meet our International Honour Holders
Stan Hall
Stan joined Abergavenny Hockey Club in 1946 at the age of 18 years. He was captain of the 1stXI in 1952/53 and again in 1974/75. Stan first played for South Wales in 1948 and continued to do so for many years including in a match against South Africa in 1956. He held two caps for Wales, both in 1951, playing against Ireland and England. By 1986 Stan had been playing for Abergavenny Hockey Club for 40 years and his long service was marked with an award by the club.
Dr 'Bill' Griffiths
Bill joined Abergavenny Hockey Club in 1950. He was President of Abergavenny Hockey Club from 1967 to 2007.
He represented Great Britain eight times and held an Olympic silver medal from the 1948 London Olympic Games.
He also held 32 caps for Wales.
He was added to the Welsh Sports Hall of Fame 'Roll of Honour' on 21st June 2024.
