Men's Team

Welcome to Abergavenny Hockey Club Men’s Team! Whether you’re an experienced player or picking up a stick for the first time, we offer a friendly inclusive atmosphere where everyone is welcome. We train weekly to build skills, fitness and teamwork and compete in exciting matches throughout the season. 

The Men’s 1st XI team is currently in Division 1 of the West De Cymru Men’s League, having won promotion from Division 2 in the 2024/2025 season. This team plays league games on Saturdays along with the other senior teams, and aims to play competitive hockey whilst promoting enjoyment, camaraderie and progress.

The newly established Men’s 2nd XI Development Team resides in Division 2 of the West Cymru Men’s League, and aims to play competitive hockey in a fun, low-pressure environment. It is one of 2 development teams in the league which allows competitive hockey against all the other teams in the league but without any points at stake and a much more relaxed approach to making sure that whatever happens, a game of hockey is facilitated to the enjoyment and merriment of all! This team has a healthy balance of players of all ages, allowing us to offer a pathway to senior hockey for junior players when they are ready (13+), new players or players looking to get back into hockey, with a core of veteran players at the heart of it.

We are always looking to welcome new players of all levels and positions (including GK), umpires experienced and new, and volunteers in any capacity.
